school, band, and cooking

So I updated the cooking portion of my blog, (we had chicken pasta parmesian with applesauce and broccoli) and I'm about ready to go to bed. I had marching band practice after school and came home where I was SUPPOSED to cook dinner, but didn't. My dad did. I will cook dinner tomorrow night haha.. Anyways, umm.. yea I had a good day at school and marching band was fun :) I don't have time to log all that I eat, But I basically have the same thing every day.. cereal in the morning around 90 calories, a lunch consisting of a turkey and mozarella sandwich (sometimes pb&j), fruit ( apples, grapes, peaches, plums, etc.), and usually either baked cheetohs or the 100 calorie packs of pringles. Yea that's about all... I'm tired and think I'll go to bed now :) goodnight all

Last 2 weeks.. Busy

Ok so it's been 16 days since I last blogged.. But I have stayed on track.. My calorie count has stayed low and I've kept to eating breakfast, lunch, sometimes a snack after I get home from school, and dinner.. (plus sometimes a dessert) .. On the weekends I have done well about staying out of the kitchen and only eating the 3 meals a day. Also, my running buddy has gone to college, so I have resorted to running on the treadmill. I feel like one of those people in the gatorade commercials that is sweating like crazy.. anyways that'w kind of gross haha. So I have to cook dinner tomorrow so it will be the first cooking with Jessica section. I already know what i'm making but I'll keep it a surprise :) haha don't worry I won't forget a picture.. but anyways.. I just thought I'd update this..

Day 6 - weaknesses

So today, I had a weakness.. Dairy Queen. I did good and had a mini so the total calories is probably more than I really had. I start school tomorrow so I will be more in control of the food I eat. I am taking my lunch and I also need to remember to eat breakfast.

Day 4 & Day 5 - eating out

Ok so I didn't blog yesterday. I went out to eat and then went shopping for school. So for dinner, my family and I went to applebees. I kept my calorie count at about 550 there and drank water. Also, today, I went out for lunch to Wendy's. I kept my calorie count low by getting a salad. I ran 4 miles yesterday morning, but haven't done anything today. My first day of NOT exercising. It will be difficult when school starts to keep running but I think I will manage. Anyways, I got a haircut today, I'll put a picture up in a little while before I go to bed.

This is today's meals.. I had a small breakfast and haven't really had much between meals. The total number of calories was 1085. I am hungry now so I will add a small bag of popcorn that is 100 calories bringing my total up to 1185. Usually, you shouldn't eat past 8 or 9 o' clock, because whatever you eat turns to fat. But I am pretty hungry so yea... Well that's all I've got tonight. I'm gonna go eat my popcorn now :)

Day 3 - keep going

So today was day 3.. It is a little difficult remembering to write down everything i eat but I've stayed on track so far.. My calorie count was 1140. I had orientation for school today and wow.. It was not fun.. but what ever i'm ok. I got my walking for an hour of searching for my classes.. not real physical activity i know, it just caused high blood pressure. But I will ride on the exercise bike for 30 minutes to make up for my exercise. One thing I need to improve on is the amount of water I drink.

Day 2 - progress

So today was an overall success. Me and my sis went running 4 miles. My total calorie count was 1590 calories and I drank 48.9 oz. of water. That's a little high but I needed the extra calories from the running.

I weighed myself today and since I have come home from vacation (I was 207 lbs.) I have lost 14 lbs. so I am at 193 lbs total. I am so excited because 15 lbs is a whole pants size. Just a few more lbs and I will be a solid 16 pants size.

Ok so today went well.. unfortunately, it was raining this morning so I didn't get to go running. my total calorie count for today was 1065 calories. Below is all the food I had today..

As for exercise, I am going to walk for 30 minutes tonight.

Well, that's all I have for tonight.. I can't wait for tomorrow.. maybe I'll be able to run. :)

The Starting Line

Hey, my name is Jessica. I am 16, my height is 5' 4" and weigh about197 lbs. I have decided to make a blog (this one) to help track my weight loss. I have been doing research and think I am ready for this challenge. I have found a few websites to help me on my plan such as a calorie counter, some online tips, the glycemic index, and ofcourse, this blog.

To start, I am going to set some goals. My main goal is to lose 50 lbs. by the end of this challenge. This will put me at a healthy weight of 147 lbs. But that's a pretty big goal, so I'll start with losing 3 to 10 lbs every month. Since it is August 2nd, and I officially start tomorrow, I'll weigh myself  the beginning of every month.
I plan on eating stuff that is low on the glycemic index, lots of fruits and vegetables, and plenty of whole grains as well as drinking plenty of water. In time, I am hoping to becoming Vegetarian (another goal). Oh yeah almost forgot, my Calorie intake will be around 1200 to 1400 calories. Not too hard right? we'll see..

Exercise: I am in marching band. Since school starts next week, (I'll be a junior) I will have practice on tuesdays and wednesdays from 3-5. And in the spring, I am hoping to do Choi Kwang Do again (I only got to be a yellow belt). Hopefully, these will be encouragements to keep my grades up. One more thing, on the days I don't have practice, I am going to run. I have become used to jogging/ running roughly 4 miles during this summer, so it shouldn't be too hard.

Well, I am excited to start tomorrow! I hope it goes well.. :)
